About Capital Outpost
Fintech and markets, measured
What we do
Capital Outpost covers the machinery of financial services: how money moves, what the rails cost, who is licensed to do what, and which products hold up when you read the terms rather than the marketing.
We are aimed at people who need to understand a financial product properly — operators, analysts, founders, journalists and informed consumers — rather than people looking to be told what to buy. The test we apply to a draft is whether a reader finishes it able to ask a sharper question, not whether they finish it ready to click.
What we cover
Seven areas, each with a defined remit:
- Payments & Rails — How value actually moves, what each rail costs, and who captures the spread.
- Banking & Neobanks — Account products and the balance-sheet mechanics that decide whether they last.
- Markets & Infrastructure — The infrastructure layer between an order and a settled position.
- Lending & Credit — Who lends, on what data, at what price, and how the losses show up.
- RegTech & Compliance — The rules that bind financial products, and the software built to satisfy them.
- Tools & Comparisons — Like-for-like comparisons where every figure carries a source and a date.
- Explainers — Mechanism-first explanations, written for someone who needs to understand, not act.
How we work
Every figure is read from the provider's own published materials and carries the date it was read. Guides carry at least one hyperlinked primary source per 500 words, enforced by a build gate rather than by good intentions.
We publish editorial synthesis, not fabricated hands-on testing. We do not forecast prices, and we do not tell readers what to do with their money. The full method, including what we refuse to claim, is on the methodology page.
Who writes it
Articles are published under desk bylines rather than individual names, and we disclose that openly rather than inventing personas. Each desk is a group of contributors working in that subject area:
- The Payments Desk — Payments & Rails Editorial Desk
- The Markets Desk — Markets & Infrastructure Editorial Desk
- The Credit Desk — Lending & Credit Editorial Desk
- The Policy Desk — RegTech & Compliance Editorial Desk
The reasoning behind this model, and its limits, is set out in the editorial policy.
How we are funded
Affiliate commissions, paid placements and display advertising. All three are disclosed where they apply, and none of them moves a provider up a comparison table. The affiliate disclosure explains the mechanics and what money cannot buy here.
There is no paywall. There is also no pretence that the site is funded by goodwill.
What we are not
Capital Outpost is an independent publisher, not a regulated financial firm. We are not a bank, broker, adviser, lender or payment institution, we hold no financial licence, and nothing we publish is investment, tax or legal advice. The disclaimer sets this out in full.
