Privacy Policy
What we collect, which third parties are involved, and how to get your data removed.
The short version
Capital Outpost has no user accounts, no login and no paywall. We do not ask you to create a profile, and we do not sell personal data.
What data exists is mostly the unavoidable kind: server logs, and whatever the analytics and advertising services listed below collect. If you email us, we have your email.
What we collect directly
- Contact messages — if you use the contact form, it opens your own mail client, so the message reaches us as ordinary email and is kept in our inbox.
- Correspondence — anything you send us about corrections, pitches or commercial enquiries.
- Server logs — IP address, user agent, requested URL and timestamp, retained for security and debugging.
We do not collect payment details, because nothing on the site is sold to readers.
Third parties
These services receive data when you visit:
- Our hosting provider — serves the site and keeps standard server logs, including IP address and user agent.
- Image and font CDNs — receive a request from your browser, which necessarily reveals your IP address to them.
Each has its own privacy policy governing what it does with that data, and we do not control their processing.
Cookies and consent
No analytics or advertising cookies are currently set. If that changes, this page changes with it and a consent mechanism will be in place before any non-essential cookie is set in a jurisdiction that requires one.
Legal basis and your rights
Where the GDPR or UK GDPR applies, our basis is legitimate interest for security logging and basic measurement, and consent for advertising and non-essential analytics.
You have the right to ask what we hold about you, to have it corrected or deleted, to object to processing, and to complain to your data protection authority. Email editorial@capitaloutpost.com and we will action it.
Under the CCPA and similar US state laws, you have comparable rights of access and deletion, and a right to opt out of "sale" or "sharing" of personal information. We do not sell personal information.
Children
This site is aimed at adults and is not directed at children. We do not knowingly collect data from anyone under 16. If you believe we have, tell us and it will be deleted.
Changes and contact
